“This project presented two main challenges that required careful management throughout. First, we were working with an older building where the walls weren’t perfectly straight. You can’t just ignore that kind of thing—if you don’t plan for it, the curvature becomes really obvious once the sheets go on. We had to think on our feet during installation, adjusting our approach to minimise how noticeable any irregularities were in the finished result. 

Second, we were working in an exposed stadium environment where wind was a constant factor. Handling large cladding sheets in windy conditions requires experience and careful timing—you can’t force it when the weather’s not cooperating. From a programming perspective, we broke the project into three distinct phases. Phase one was the area with the highest public foot traffic, and we prioritised getting that completed before the football season started and visitor numbers ramped up. That meant the most visible area was finished and away from the public eye as quickly as possible. 

Phases two and three covered the remaining elevations— essentially the long face of the wall. This required quite a bit of coordination because we weren’t the only contractor on site. Screen installers, sign installers, and electricians were all working simultaneously, so we had to plan our sequencing to ensure everyone could get their work done without getting in each other’s way. The scope involved installing tophat systems, bar and bracket frameworks, fire cavity barriers, window surrounds, the main sheet installation and all the flashing details. Each element had to be coordinated carefully to maintain the programme and quality standards.”
